Mirzapur-2 Review

Mirzapur-2 is back with a bang. It is more intense, tricky mind game plots, political hunger, unpredictable twists, and interesting characters. The characters to watch out for apart from Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) are Munna Tripathi (Divyendu Sharma), Golu (Shweta Tripathi), Guddu (Ali Fazal), Beena Tripathi (Rasika Dugal), Shatrugan Tyagi (Vijay Verma), Madhuri Yadav (Isha Talwar) and Sharad Shukla (Anjum Sharma).

The second season is all about revenge, loyalty, and political power. While it starts with where the first season ends with the massacre in the wedding where Bablu (Vikrant Messey) and Sweety (Shriya Pilgaonkar) were murdered by Munna Bhaiya. Guddu (Ali Fazal) gets injured but he is rescued by Golu and Dimpy which starts in the first episode. They hid him under the care of a doctor which they kidnapped for his treatment. On the other hand, Sharad Shukla, son of Rathi Shankar who was killed by Guddu in the first season gears up to take revenge on his father and fulfill the long-time wish of his father to rule Mirzapur. Being educated and smart he plays mind games and befriends his enemies to hatch the plot and become stronger. He succeeds in impressing many with his skill and might play a vital role in the upcoming seasons. Golu and Guddu set for their revenge and persuade many for accomplishing their mission. The dynamics of their relationship changes when they take the help of Lala for shelter. Despite ups and downs, they stuck with each other to reach their goal. They met Shatrughan Tyagi to crack a deal and used him for their purpose. Tension mounts between Kaleen Bhaiya & Munna for the throne of Mirzapur. Things start getting worst and murkier when Munna marries Madhuri. Beena tries to manipulate all her male counterparts and uses them for her and her child's safety.

The plot is gripping in all the episodes, from the previous season the second season is all about mind games. It is also interesting to watch the female characters playing a major role in changing the game plan in a hardcore male-oriented series. Director Gurmeet Singh & Mihir Desai have given all the characters a story to tell. There is a visible improvement in the way scenes have been crafted and shot. The most interesting characters that will keep you hooked are Munna Bhaiya. His character has evolved from the first season with many layers. The role of Guddu could have been a little stronger than what it was in Season 1. Kaleen Bhaiya remained powerful and strong in both seasons and interestingly we could see a subtle humorous side of him in season 2. Beena plays a pivotal role in changing the game for her gain and she did it masterfully. Golu is a surprising element and every time she comes on the screen, you will feel her pain as well as her anger. She is one of the strongest characters in season 2. There are some pleasant and surprising characters also. Watch out for Sharad & Madhuri.

Overall Season 2 is clearly a winner and will not disappoint you if you have followed the genre. The audience is already craving for season 3 which is going to see some strong characters as predicted.
