Article 15 Movie Review

Genre: Drama/Thriller
Ratings: 9/10
Director: Anubhav Sinha

After Mulk, director Anubhav Sinha is here with another relevant prevailing socio-political issue with Article 15. It is one of the most awaited films of 2019. Police Officer Ayan Mukherjee (Ayushmann Khurrana) who is an upper-class Brahmin but caste blind is posted in a small village in Bihar where he encounters the deep-rooted casteism around. Two Dalit girls got missing and found hanging in a tree after two days of his service. Shooked by the incident and the way the case is handled by his own officers and the people around he was helpless in many ways. But with the strength of his intuition and guts, he undergoes the rigorous challenges to solve the case to find the lost girl who was still missing.  As his girlfriend (Isha Talwar) rightly said “Hero Nahi chaiye Ayan bas aise logh chaiyeh jo Hero ka wait nah kare”, Ayan takes action on the case with his gut feeling fighting all the odds. Despite Corrupt officers, Politicians, and handling the sensitive situation, he solved the case with the help of the villagers and some honest police officers. Although he was under suspension he still managed to solve the case as promised.

This film is a masterpiece and is one of the most relevant films in today’s time. It’s a brave and courageous effort by the director and the actors who brought justice to this sensitive subject so effortlessly. A special mention for the brilliant performance of Kumud Mishra and Manoj Pahwa. You will feel the angst and pain that every protagonist goes through and will compel you to think of our system. It will punch you with some hard-hitting and realistic scenes and dialogues. You will feel when Ayan says ” I feel proud of my country but there are some parts in our country which are so messed up” and ” The price of mineral water is way more expensive than the lives of people who are raped and killed for just Rs 3.00″.  The whole purpose of the film revolves around for a change and to abolish the cruelty against casteism and race. Just Go, Watch, and Think. Don’t Miss It. This is a film which needs attention.
